Care + Maintenance

Scandecor Rugs and Broadloom are crafted for durability and have an all natural soil-repellent treatment included for extra stain protection. Follow these guidelines to maintain the beauty of your New Zealand wool, recycled cotton or wood fiber rugs and broadloom.

  • Regular, thorough vacuuming is essential to keeping your rug looking its best. Wool fibers naturally repel dirt, so weekly vacuuming prevents debris from embedding in the fibers, preserving the rug’s texture and longevity.

  • Quick action is key for effective stain removal. Address spills as soon as possible to prevent deeper absorption.

    Food Spills:
Use a spoon to gently lift any solid debris. For any remaining spot, create a lathered solution of water and mild dish soap. Dip a soft brush into the solution and gently scrub the area, then blot dry with a clean cloth. Repeat if needed, blotting out any remaining soap and moisture. Allow the rug to air dry completely. Do not use bleach.

    Liquid Spills:
Blot liquid spills immediately with a dry white towel to absorb as much liquid as possible; the soil-repellent treatment will help prevent deep absorption. If a mark remains, apply the soapy solution (mild dish detergent and water) with a soft brush, gently scrub along the weave direction, and blot dry. Repeat as necessary, blotting thoroughly to remove all soap and moisture. Let the rug air dry. Do not use bleach.

  • For optimal care, a professional steam cleaning once every 12-18 months is recommended to maintain freshness and extend longevity. Have the cleaning team apply a protective treatment such as Microseal or Scotchgard after the steam cleaning.

With proper care, your Scandecor Rug will continue to provide beauty, comfort, and durability for years to come.
